Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Makestream handles your information when you use the Makestream Mac app and the make.stream website. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Makestream, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the service.

Makestream is a Mac app for designing and running live broadcasts, along with the make.stream website. In this policy, “Makestream”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the Makestream service and the people who operate it. We are the party responsible for deciding how your personal information is handled.

We collect a few kinds of information so we can run the service:

• Account information. When you sign in, we collect your email address. We use a one-time code sent to that address, so we do not collect or store a password.
• Content and settings. We collect what you create in Makestream, such as your show names, episode and template setups, brand colours, logos, and other brand assets.
• Recordings. Recordings you make on your own Mac stay on your Mac. Recordings made by remote guests are uploaded to and stored in our cloud so you can access them.
• Payment information. When you subscribe, our payment processor, Stripe, collects and handles your card details. We do not see or store full card numbers. We keep records such as your plan, billing period, and subscription status.
• Usage and device information. We collect information about how the app and website are used, such as the features and actions you use, the app version, your operating system, and general device details. We also collect diagnostic and crash information to find and fix problems.
• Website session activity. On the make.stream website we use analytics that may record a session replay of your visit — the pages you view and how you move through them — to help us understand and improve the site. Form fields are masked, and we do not record this on the guest-join or payment pages.
• Guest information. When someone joins your broadcast as a guest, we process their camera, microphone, and screen share for that session, along with basic details such as a display name and the devices they choose.

We use the information we collect to:

• provide, run, and maintain Makestream;
• sign you in and keep your account secure;
• store and sync your content, settings, and recordings;
• process your subscription and payments;
• understand how the service is used so we can improve it;
• find, diagnose, and fix bugs and crashes;
• send you service messages, such as account, billing, and guest-invite emails;
• protect Makestream and our users, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Live broadcasts and recordings often capture people, including you and your guests. Recordings you make locally are kept on your own Mac and stay under your control. Guest recordings are stored in our cloud so you can use them after the session.

If you record guests, you are responsible for telling them and for getting any consent the law requires. Our role is to provide the tools. The recordings, and how they are used, are yours.

We do not sell your information. We share it only in these situations:

• Service providers. We use trusted companies to help run Makestream, including cloud hosting and databases, our payment processor Stripe, analytics and product-usage tools, error and crash monitoring, and email delivery. They may only handle your information to provide their service to us.
• Streaming platforms. When you broadcast through Restream to platforms such as YouTube or Twitch, your broadcast is sent to those platforms, which handle it under their own policies.
• Legal reasons. We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Makestream, our users, or others.
• Business transfers. If Makestream is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal.

Your account data, content, settings, and guest recordings are stored on cloud infrastructure run by our hosting providers. Recordings you make locally stay on your own device.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no service can be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and devices secure, and for keeping your own backups of important recordings.

We keep your information for as long as you have an account and for as long as we need it to provide the service. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your information within a reasonable period, apart from anything we need to keep to meet legal, accounting, or security requirements.

Recordings stored on your own Mac stay there until you delete them.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access it, correct it, delete it, or ask us to limit how we use it.

You can update much of your information from inside Makestream. For any other request, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

Makestream is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will remove it.

Makestream is operated from the United Arab Emirates, and the providers we work with may store and process information in other countries. Wherever your information is handled, we take steps to keep it protected in line with this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by posting the updated policy here with a new date. If you keep using Makestream after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated policy.
